4th Grade Team Building Activity- Stenciled Tie Dye Shirts and Circular Rock Painting
a We are all so happy to be back in the CLIC Room creating. Students have been coming to CLIC during the school day. It feels great to see smiles on faces getting hands dirty and learning by doing,. I am looking forward to working with your children before, during, and after school. CLIC Clubs are set to start soon.
Fourth graders have been in the CLIC room beginning a series of class team builder activities. Our goal is to give some time to relax and work together as a class on low stress projects to get used to our new routine.
Tie Dye/ Stencilled shirts We just finished creating class shirts. Students love this project learning about textile design and the process of dyeing fabric and stenciling and stamping designs. Using fabric dye is unpredictable and using stencils is predictable so even if the colors were not exactly what was desired the stencils pull the whole design together. The shirts turned out awesome! I love seeing students proudly wearing their class team shirts.
Circular Dot Rock Painting We have also began paintng rocks in circular patterns. We are painting the rocks with Cotton swabs, erasers, and other round objects to create painted dots. Students must concentrate to make concentic circles using the different sized dots and colors to make a mesmerizing pattern on their roks. This activity is relaxing and meditative since one must be present and concentrate on the patterning. Students have loved this activity.
Next week's highlight will be 5th grade science. We are beginning a series of STEM collaborative hands-on labs focused on matter, density, and bouyancy.
