Mrs. Kelleher's 4th Grade Social Studies on the Northeast ProjectMrs. Kelleher's 4th grade class began a Project based learning project in CLIC. They first researched their Northeastern state in Social studies. I stopped by their classroom to hear about each student's ideas of how they would like to represent their state in a project format. Students then came and spent time in CLIC beginning their projects and will work on them this week. I love to see how the children figure out what they will feature to represent their state. It is also challenging to construct their 3-dimensional projects to stay up and be well built. We hope to be finished this week. Next week, I will be featuring the 6th grade Social Studies Project Base Learning on the Mayans. Students have been coming to CLIC last week and the upcoming week to create projects based on Mayan cultural studies. Students are busy creating Mayan masks, temples, codices, urns, and musical instruments. There isn't a moment the CLIC room is not full of children creating hands-on projects during the school day as well as before and after school in academic clubs.
